ManageMyHorse was founded by Paula Brocklehurst and Greg Kingsley-Wilkins. Paula has a long history in the industry as a competitor, owner, and breeder, while Greg has a long and established career as a software architect and engineer. The project began just over a year ago in response to the challenge of obtaining accurate pedigree which could serve as the bedrock for a comprehensive data analytics platform to track detailed data points on the performance of New Zealand horses and their progeny.
This grew into something much larger, with the first project being the NZWA online database. Partnering with the software company Elevate, they created the platform containing the consolidated database. Many thanks go to Annika (NZ Gypsy Cobs), Robin (NZ Hanoverian Society), and Jody (NZ Warmblood Association) for their support and time spent getting this project off the ground. With big plans on our roadmap, including more breeds and adding non-registered horses, exciting things are to come.
A New Zealand-focused platform that is both accurate and accessible has been lacking. This absence has resulted in numerous inaccuracies, loss of valuable pedigrees, and inconsistencies in horse data, such as changes in names and pedigree details. By presenting the consolidated data online, we aim to reduce the duplication of efforts across the registration bodies and therefore associated costs while giving access to the entire equine community, ultimately advancing the breeding of high-quality New Zealand horses.
At this stage, your horse needs to be registered with a participating breed society or be in the pedigree of a registered horse. This is to ensure that the pedigree data we provide is accurate and verified, as it is sourced directly from reputable breed societies. We are committed to maintaining the integrity of this information. However, we will be expanding our database to include non-registered horses soon, while still prioritizing the accuracy and reliability of the data we present.
Our data comes from various sources. When we cannot confirm that two records refer to the same horse, they may appear separately. Different spellings of dam or sire names can also cause duplicates. We have already de-duplicated over 8,000 records, but if you notice any duplicates, please message us as we are continuously working on this.
If the horse has a New Zealand registration, please contact the relevant breed society.
This has been a frequent request, and we are currently in discussions with ESNZ.
Please message us with your email and phone number, and we will get in touch with you.
